Connor Owen, 7, from Pontypool When a routine scan showed Michelle Owen’s unborn baby’s bladder had crushed his kidneys she was warned to expect the worse. Doctors later diagnosed little Connor had Prune Belly Sydrome, which affects the abdomine and kidneys. Thanks though to the care of staff at the Children’s Kidney Centre and the gift of a kidney from his dad Meredydd, bubbly Connor is now living every day to the full. “We come along every year to the Cardiff 10K and Fun Run and know how much of a difference it makes to the Children’s Kidney Centre,” said Meredydd.

Come race day, don’t worry about what your mates are wearing. Kit is a very individual thing so it’s crucial to get it right. Use training to test your kit: does your top rub around the arm pits? Can you wear shorts in cold weather? Do you get too hot in a long-sleeved top? Does your music player always need adjusting?
