Dion Evans
Like any other 17-year-old boy he is a ‘happy-go-lucky’ teenager who enjoys playing his playstation and wearing the rugby shirt of his beloved Wales.

Dion hadn’t been able to go on the waiting list for a kidney transplant because he’s been so susceptible to life threatening infections. His mum has to accompany him to hospital in an ambulance for three hours of dialysis three times a week where he’s become well known among the staff at the Children’s Kidney Centre for his cheeky grin.

TOP RUNNING TIPS

Take on liquid fuel

Liquid hydration is important to fuel your race and training, but that doesn’t mean 500ml of beer after training is good for you! Water is quickly absorbed so be sure to drink plenty in the week leading up to the race - before, during and after training. For long runs, sports drinks can help to replace the salts and nutrients you lose during exercise. Not everyone likes to run with a bottle, so make sure you take note of the water stations before the big race!
